Role Overview

The role is responsible for end-to-end retail expansion across assigned geographies, with ownership of property identification, commercial negotiations, documentation, store rollout, and execution. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective store launches aligned with business growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Expansion & Market Planning
  • Drive store expansion strategy across assigned regions.
  • Identify and evaluate new retail properties (malls, high streets, standalone stores).
  • Conduct market and catchment analysis, including footfall, conversion potential, and customer demographics.
  • Present multiple viable location options for each market entry.
Negotiation & Closure
  • Lead commercial negotiations with landlords, mall leasing teams, and property owners.
  • Finalize key commercial terms including rent, CAM, lock-in period, escalation, and handover timelines.
  • Manage lease documentation and legal coordination until closure.
Store Rollout & Execution
  • Oversee store rollout and execution in coordination with design, projects, finance, and operations teams.
  • Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and brand standards.
  • Track progress from deal closure to store launch.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners, brokers, and developers.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to align expansion plans with business objectives.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
  • Maintain detailed expansion trackers and MIS.
  • Review performance of stores post-launch and share insights for future expansion decisions.

Preferred Background

  • 9+ years of experience in retail expansion / business development
  • Experience with organized retail brands (fashion, lifestyle, specialty retail)
  • Proven track record of multiple store openings across regions
  • Exposure to mall and high-street formats
  • Post-graduate qualification preferred
